Latest Sessions

Richmond, VA’s Engine Down dropped by château CJLO July 31, 2004, a Saturday morning, at 10am…no joke.  That’s dedication, people.  Funny story, this was the first sorta promotional thing Lookout! Records ever did with the band (it was a couple months before their new album, their first for Lookout! was to be released). Our pal Erin over at Lookout! (sidenote: she's also part of the awesome Bratmobile) managed to just catch them before they crossed the border into Canada, where their cellphones woulda went out. Talk about nick o' time.

 All around awesome guys, they basically hung around the station the whole day and then hit the cheap-o pizza place across from the Loyola Campus...


Toronto’s death disco post punk quintet controller.controller rolled into the CJLO studios on a dark Saturday evening, October 30, 2004, to record 4 songs for Hooked on Sonics.  They even brought in their red lights for the session, it was like our own private concert.  One of the easiest sessions we ever had to record, they came in, set up, and ran through all 4 songs in no time, with no extra takes (we found out afterwards that they had forgone a soundcheck for their show later that night in order to do the session, something they got in a lot of trouble...


Ex-Dirtmitts frontwoman, Natasha Thirsk brought her new tunes to CJLO September 30, 2005.  Working under the name Catlow and featuring Brent and Kevin of the Salteens backing her up, Natasha was in town for the Boompa Records Pop Montreal showcase, continuing our streak of locking down practically every Boompa band for a CJLO session, hehehe.

 Along with the Ladies and Gentlemen session, the Catlow session was one of the quickest sessions ever organized.  Basically we got in contact with Scott from Boompa that morning, who in turn passed our number to Kevin, who called us and then we set up the time, and voila.  Now, this is where things go wrong.
