Latest Sessions

Quite possibly the longest session to set up ever, we finally managed to get Montreal local faves Heroes and Villains to make it into CJLO to perform LIVE to air on the SONiCs show.

After literally months of setting things up, then canceling, then re-scheduling, and then re-canceling due to technical difficulties, etc (it seemed every time we had these guys scheduled our production equipment would fail on us a few days earlier), the moons were aligned just right and the stars were working in our favour and we finally got them in on November 22, 2005.

So how do the H&V guys commemorate the occasion...

The guys from Regina, Saskatchewan’s Ghosts of Modern Man swung by the CJLO studios the afternoon of April 18, 2005 to record a three song session.  Nice guys with huge amps (the bass amp alone was seriously big), we helped them lug their gear up the Loyola staircase since the usual elevator route was blocked off due to exams being held nearby.

We’re kinda used to having to do this sometimes, except this time some dude was sitting at the base of the steps with his laptop plugged into a nearby outlet watching a course lecture on his computer.  Fair enough, but the guy didn’t move at all.  We all had asked him...

Ottawa post hardcore quintet For the Mathematics spent the afternoon at the CJLO studios July 23, 2005 to record 5 songs, 3 of which were brand spankin’ new.  The session took a long time to record, and the reason was that 2/5 of the band didn’t show up…turns out Clayton and James, who were driving separately (due to their van being out of commission, the guys were traveling in 2 cars), ended up at the right civic number for the station, but on Sherbrooke EAST…not WEST.  For those of you not from Montreal, that’s literally the COMPLETE other end of town.  They weren’t the only band to do this either, and we’ve since solved why this happens.
