Along with Uncut, Magneta Lane also gets the title of being the first band to ever come on time to CJLO (see the Uncut session profile for more details).

Soooo…while everyone was setting up, we made coffee for the Uncut and Magneta Lane while they waited.  That’s where the problems arose.  No cups or mugs (we usually have a whole bunch thanks to Hughes of Monday nights’ Born to Lose (8-10pm ET on CJLO) who usually “borrows” some from one of the Teacher’s Lounges.  Soooo, we went to the nearby cafeteria/study area (the Guadagni Lounge to all you Concordia students) and I managed to sweet-talk the attendants into giving us a few...


Still putting out amazing rock records after all these years, Scott Lucas, exactly one half of loud rawk duo Local H  visited CJLO June 21, 2004.

Pretty much having just woken up from the drive in from Toronto, Scott lugged his acoustic guitar up to the studio, sat down and looked up at us. "So," he said, "what do you guys want me to play?" No joke. He took requests for an hour. Old Local H songs, newer ones, and even a few covers (yeah...my Pixies cover suggestion was met with a "heh heh, you college kids...", but I did get a Guided by Voices cover...pow!)

One of the most down to earth guys, Scott's a true music fan and probably one of the few people...


 

In town for Pop Montreal with the whole Boompa records crew, Thom D’Arcy brought his new group the Ladies and Gentlemen to the  CJLO September 30, 2005.  Along with the kids from Catlow, the session was set up pretty much the day of, with us reaching Thom by phone that morning while they were eating breakfast.  “Cool, what do we need and when do we have to be there?” was pretty much Thom’s answer to if they could do it.

Getting in later that afternoon, we found out good ol’ Brent from the Salteens was touring with them along with backing Catlow also.  All in all, the guys zipped thru 5 songs,...
