Latest Sessions

Tuscon’s the Bled rolled into the CJLO studios October 28, 2005 and recorded what probably has been the loudest CJLO Session to date.

After having serious trouble getting to the station (thanks, Mapquest…who, for the record, gives the complete opposite directions to get to the station, sending you to East Montreal, rather than West), the guys trucked on, determined to get this session done.

The guys arrived, loaded in (good thing we managed to get security to allow us elevator access, their amps were huge), set up, and blazed through an entire set of songs.  SEVEN songs, with absolutely NO second takes, that’s how tight they were.  It was mindblowing.  Hehehe,...

From the prairie-lands of Regina, Saskatchewan, poppy post-punk outfit Sylvie paid a visit to CJLO July 29, 2005.   Already hearing a buzz about the band (guitarist/singer Joel Passmore was in Despistado, another CJLO and SONiCs fave), a couple of us CJLO kids caught the Sylvie set the previous night where they opened for Uncut and Wintersleep (both past SONiCs Session guests).  After the show, good ol’ Derek of SONiCs pals Uncut introduced us to the Sylvie gang and suggested we set up a session.  As luck would have it, they had a day off on the tour the next day so phone #’s were exchanged and we hooked things up.

Aussie new-wave pop punkers Sekiden dropped by the CJLO studios June 6, 2004.  Showing up in town to find out their gig was cancelled, they were still determined to rock CJLO old schooooool. The trio plugged in and powered out a high energy set, complete with backing vocals from Sarah Tesla (their publicist and tour manager from Boompa Records), Andrew Wedderburn from Hot Little Rocket (with whom they were touring), and yours truly on “S-T-A-Y”. And Seja played me the Mario Brothers theme on her keyboard...raaaaaadical.

Another cool fact? They tour in a mini-van! How they manage to pack all their gear is amazing, it's an art.

…and damn, these cats are tall.
